Other members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course.

Furthermore, the President approved the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect.

“The President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these important functions for the overall wellbeing of the Nigeria Police and the nation”, the statement signed by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale read.

Arase was appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission in January 2023 by former president Muhammadu Buhari.

He also served as the 18th Inspector-General of Nigerian Police (IGP) after Suleiman Abba was sacked.

Before his appointment as IGP, Arase was head of the topmost intelligence gathering unit of the Nigerian police, the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau.
