Many feared dead as Train crushes Lagos Government Staff BRT Bus at Ikeja [video]


A number of persons are feared to have died after being crushed by a train while in a Lagos state government staff BRT bus in Ikeja during the early hours of Thursday, 9th of March 2023.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the accident in a statement.

“The accident recorded many casualties as the staff bus was fully loaded with govt staff going to the office this morning,” the statement added.

A video of some victims being rescued from the wreckage has gone viral online, with many calling on the government to come to the aid of the survivors.

Dockaysworld learnt that the train was coming from Agege and met the BRT bus with the Lagos state government workers on board crossing the rail to link Ikeja GRA.

The accident has caused a gridlock on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway from for motorists coming from Oshodi around Shogunle to Ikeja-Along.

It is yet unclear the number of casualties from the incident but survivors were seen to be bloodied and injured.
