Veteran Nollywood actor dies


Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after battling cancer.

The Yoruba film star reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after his health condition worsened following a prolonged battle with the disease.

News of his death was made public by one of his daughters, Kira Taiwo, who announced the development during an Instagram live session.

The announcement came just days after the family disclosed that the actor had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer.

Ogogo’s daughters had recently appealed to medical professionals, hospitals and well-wishers for assistance as the family searched for further treatment options for their father.

The family had also disclosed that doctors had ruled out further chemotherapy, leading them to consider other forms of care.

Ogogo was one of the well-known faces in Yoruba-language Nollywood films and built a long career in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

He was known for his roles in numerous Yoruba movies and became widely recognized among movie lovers across the country.

He is survived by his wives and children.
