Wike reveals candidates to win election in FCT
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Tinubu, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and John Gabaya will win their respective elections in the FCT in the 2027 general elections.
Wike said he had no fear about the chances of the three politicians, attributing his confidence to the performance of the Tinubu administration, particularly its infrastructure projects across Abuja and the satellite towns.
The minister made the statement in Abuja while speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing road projects in some satellite communities of the FCT.
Wike said the government had moved development beyond the city centre, with several road and other infrastructure projects being executed in satellite communities.
He pointed to the Apo-Karshi road project, which he said was originally awarded in 2010 but was delayed for years before the present administration revoked and re-awarded the contract.
According to him, the Apo-Karshi road is expected to be completed in November, while the Bwari-Kubwa road is also targeted for completion before the end of the year.
The FCT minister also said more than 10 projects would be commissioned in the territory before the 2027 elections, exceeding an earlier commitment by the administration.
Speaking about the political situation ahead of the elections, Wike said the infrastructure projects being delivered by the Tinubu administration would give residents reasons to support the government.
He said residents should vote for candidates who have shown commitment to improving their welfare.
Wike said, “If really indeed that good governance is a barometer to measure whether a government has succeeded or not, then we have nothing to fear. If we are saying that we want to have a government that listens to us, we want to have a government that cares for us, we want to have a government that solves our problems…Now the Tinubu administration has come, it’s not only listening to you, it’s not only caring for you, it’s solving your problems.
“So why would the people again who have said this is what they want, now change their mind to say, oh, let’s go and try people that we do not know what will happen? Nobody does that.
“I can beat my chest; I can close my eyes and go home and sleep with my two eyes closed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge and other candidates such as Philip Aduda and John Gabaya will win this election. I have no fear at all.”
Wike’s comments came as political activities continue to build ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties and politicians positioning themselves for contests across the Federal Capital Territory.
