Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has rejected the move by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The governor in a statement released on Saturday evening insisted he will not support any action that deepens internal crisis.
“I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, @GovWike, from the PDP,” he said.
“I believe that this decision is not in the best interest of the party.”
Dockaysworld reported earlier that the PDP expelled Wike, Ayo Fayose, Samuel Anyanwu and several others during its national convention in Ibadan after delegates adopted a motion calling for their removal.
Party leaders, including Bode George and Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, pushed the motion, arguing the expelled members had worked against PDP interests in recent political activities.
Fintiri in his statement, said he remains a committed party man whose focus is preserving the unity and stability of the PDP.
“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP,” he said.
“I believe that peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party.”
He urged stakeholders to prioritize healing and cohesion instead of actions that further divide the party.
“I urge all stakeholders to work towards healing the divisions within the party and to strive for unity and cohesion,” he added.
Fintiri added that his stance is driven by the desire to advance peace and reconciliation within the PDP.
