Adeleke Leaves PDP

Adeleke Leaves PDP

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has left the Peoples Democratic Party after months of unrest within the party’s national leadership.

He confirmed that he handed in his resignation at Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025.

The governor said the steady troubles at the top of the party pushed him to walk away.

He also said that he had served under the PDP both as a senator and as governor, and appreciated the support he received during those years.

This development comes after earlier reports from the Osun PDP saying that Adeleke might not seek the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election if the crisis remained unresolved.

Party leaders in the state had hoped that the matter would be settled in time for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s schedule, which they believed could persuade him to stay and contest under the PDP.
