ADC suspends officials indefinitely

The Sokoto State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended three state officials indefinitely for alleged anti-party activities and conduct that could harm the party’s unity.

The suspended members are the State Secretary, Yusuf Alkali; Assistant State Financial Secretary for the Central Zone, Abu Galadima; and State Publicity Secretary, Bortala Ali.

The action was taken during an emergency meeting of the state executive committee on December 10, 2025.

The committee also reaffirmed Alhaji Bello Isiyaku Keegan as the recognized chairman of the party in Sokoto State, aiming to restore order and maintain stability within the party.

In addition, the committee warned Umar Farouk Mohammed to stop claiming the position of state chairman, describing his actions as illegal and misleading.

The ADC in Sokoto has recently faced internal disputes over leadership, with different factions claiming authority.

The emergency meeting was called to address these conflicts, and Keegan’s confirmation is seen as a step to prevent further divisions and ensure smooth functioning of the party ahead of upcoming activities.

The statement confirming these decisions was signed by the Deputy Chairman of the state ADC, Alhaji Bello Haruna Illela, on behalf of 25 members of the executive council.
