FG charges SAN Ozekhome with fraud, forgery

The Federal Government has filed criminal charges against Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, over alleged fraud, forgery and the use of falsified documents linked to a property in London.

The charges, filed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, under suit number FCT/HC/CR/010/26, accuse the senior advocate of three offences: receiving property abroad, forgery, and fraudulent use of false documents.

According to the charge sheet, Ozekhome allegedly received a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London, in August 2021, an act prosecutors say constitutes an offence under the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

He is further accused of forging a Nigerian passport in Abuja during the same period. The passport, numbered A07535463 and bearing the name of one Mr. Shani Tali, was allegedly created to support a claim of ownership over the London property.

The Federal Government also alleged that Ozekhome knowingly used the falsified passport as a genuine document to substantiate his claim to the property, contrary to provisions of the Penal Code applicable in the FCT.

The charge sheet was signed on January 16, 2026, by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation.

The court is yet to fix a date for the hearing of the case.
