The Nigerian Army has explained the arrest of content creator Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, citing alleged attempts to incite discontent among military personnel.
In a statement issued on May 2, 2026, and signed by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army said its attention was drawn to complaints raised by some soldiers regarding feeding and welfare, which were shared on social media by the influencer.
Recall there’s been an uproar over the missing influencer whose whereabouts has been concealed prior to the statement. Activists had called out the situation, claiming an abuse to his fundamental human rights following his video which exposed alleged bad conditions of soldiers within the army.
The statement noted that the matter is under investigation for a possible breach of the Armed Forces’ Social Media Policy and what it described as an attempt to misinform the public.
According to preliminary findings, the Army alleged that Chidiebere engaged soldiers in conversations that went beyond welfare concerns, accusing him of “inciting soldiers to create discontent within the system.”
It added that one of the exchanges involved discussions “bordering on subversion,” warning that civilians influencing military personnel toward such actions could have serious implications for discipline and national security.
“Justice Chidiebere was picked by the Nigerian Army alongside the soldiers for investigation,” the statement said.
The Army clarified that while the soldiers involved remain in military custody, Chidiebere has been handed over to civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Reaffirming its stance, the Army said it remains committed to the rule of law and will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure justice is served while safeguarding national sovereignty.
