Osun Gov Adeleke accuses APC of coordinated thug attacks

The Osun State Governor has condemned what he described as coordinated attacks carried out by suspected pro-APC political thugs across parts of the state, including Ile-Ife, Ede, Osogbo and other communities.

In a post accompanied by a video showing scenes of the alleged violence, the governor said the attacks were politically motivated and warned that “no political ambition is worth the blood, pain, and suffering of innocent citizens.”

He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the Inspector General of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to urgently intervene and rein in those allegedly responsible.

The governor specifically urged authorities to call former governor Gboyega Oyetola, the APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, and others he linked to the alleged instigations to order, warning that continued unrest could plunge the state into chaos.

Following reports of the incidents, the governor said he personally visited affected communities and met victims receiving treatment at the Osun State Teaching Hospital in Osogbo and the Cottage Hospital in Ede. He also visited the Osogbo Accord Party chairman who reportedly survived a gunshot attack last week.

He expressed sympathy for victims and assured that his administration would not abandon them, adding that security agencies had been directed to thoroughly investigate the incidents and ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice, regardless of political affiliation.

“Political differences must never degenerate into violence, intimidation, or attacks on citizens exercising their constitutional rights,” he said, stressing that democracy must be anchored on dialogue, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law.

The governor also appealed for calm across the state, saying additional security deployments were being activated in vulnerable areas to protect lives and property.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace in Osun State.
