The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned of planned Boko Haram attacks in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the security agency said the insurgents are preparing coordinated operations following the reported collapse of a ceasefire arrangement with the two state governments.
The warning was contained in an intelligence communication dated July 27, 2026, and addressed to the Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yola, Adamawa State.
The intelligence document, referenced 0.211/3827, was signed by Ben Osifor on behalf of the Adamawa State Director of Security.
According to the DSS, intelligence gathered by the agency showed that the terrorists are planning coordinated attacks in the two local government areas as part of efforts to mark the reported end of the ceasefire agreement.
The report also stated that the insurgents intend to kidnap top government officials, councillors, district heads, religious leaders and residents living in the affected communities during the planned attacks.
The DSS further revealed that the district head of Michika and his son are among those allegedly being targeted for abduction.
The intelligence report added that the terrorists have already begun preparations by deploying surveillance teams to monitor activities in the affected areas before carrying out the attacks.
In response to the threat, the DSS advised the Nigerian Army to work closely with forest guards and local hunters to strengthen security across the affected communities and stop the planned operations.
The intelligence report has been forwarded to the Nigerian Army for necessary action as security agencies continue to monitor renewed Boko Haram activities in parts of Nigeria’s North-East.
