A fire broke out at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday, with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirming that emergency responders were working to contain the incident.
In a statement, FAAN said the fire affected Terminal 2 of the airport and that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) had been deployed to the scene.
“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” the authority said.
FAAN added that there had been no reported casualties or loss of life as of the time of the statement.
Recall Dockaysworld reported that another fire broke out at Terminal 1 of the airport in earlier this year. The blaze disrupted flight operations, temporarily affected the airport’s airspace and left six people injured, although no fatalities were recorded.
FAAN said it would provide further updates as more information becomes available.
