Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerian lawmakers to live up to the expectations of the people by showing patriotism in their duties.
Speaking during the Senate’s resumption on Tuesday, he spoke further on several ongoing challenges in the country, including the high cost of living, energy instability, insecurity in various regions, and unresolved issues around environmental and resource justice.
He stated that Nigerians are not just seeking words from their leaders, but real solutions.
Akpabio urged his colleagues to support the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and to focus on key reforms in the electoral and judicial systems, as well as in areas like security, education, technology, and youth empowerment.
He reminded the lawmakers that the public and history are watching them closely, and encouraged them to act with integrity, unity, and a sense of duty.
According to him, the Senate’s work this session is both serious and historic, and their actions must reflect the hopes and struggles of the Nigerian people.
