The Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court, located in Ikeja, handed down a life imprisonment sentence to Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, the Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation.

The verdict came on Tuesday, following his conviction for the defilement of his wife’s teenage niece.

Justice Rahman Oshodi made the decision after finding the medical practitioner guilty of defilement and sexual penetration of the 15-year-old girl.

The judge emphasized that the prosecution successfully demonstrated the case beyond a reasonable doubt, with all the evidence presented in court corroborating the victim’s account.

The doctor had faced two counts of charges related to defilement and sexual assault by penetration, both concerning his wife’s niece.

These charges were filed against him by the Lagos State Government.

The case against Femi dated back to November 30, 2022, when he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Babajide Martins, revealed that the offences were committed between February 2020 and November 2021 at their residence in Maryland, Lagos state.

The charges against the doctor alleged that he engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with his wife’s 15-year-old niece and sexually assaulted her.

Upon his initial plea of not guilty, Justice Oshodi granted him bail in the amount of N50 million, requiring two sureties with equal amounts of landed property in Lagos state and evidence of tax payments to the state government for the previous three years.

The judge also mandated that the doctor surrender his international passport, including his British passport, and the original documents of his landed property to the court’s registrar.

During the trial, the victim’s testimony was corroborated by his wife, Aderemi Olaleye, who revealed that her husband had been sexually abusing her niece during her stay with them.
