Foreigner Impersonating Nigerian Soldiers Arrested By Police
Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 28-year-old man named Jibrin Ali, who is from Zandar in Niger Republic, for pretending to be a soldier.
He was caught during a routine patrol at Yankari Game Reserve in Alkeleri Local Government Area.
Officers noticed he was acting suspiciously in an area known for criminal activity and tried to question him, but he resisted arrest.
When interrogated, Jibrin couldn’t give a good reason for why he was in the forest, and police suspect he may be linked to criminal groups.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a full investigation, and the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
On the same day, police also stopped a trailer carrying more than a thousand bags of diverted iodized salt worth over ten million naira.
Two suspects, Sadik Jidda and Ibrahim Ahmad, were arrested, while the truck driver managed to escape.
The police say the operation was based on reliable information, and the Commissioner has praised the officers involved, saying the command remains committed to fighting crime in the state.
