Fresh Update on Kebbi Government Expansion plan


The Kebbi State Government have reportedly announced that it is actively working to increase the number of extension workers from 69 to 1,000, aiming to enhance agricultural growth and development.

Commissioner Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu shared this initiative during the 2024 Weekly ministerial press briefing, highlighting the importance of extension workers in conveying crucial information about new technologies to farmers.

The current count has risen to 650, with plans to reabsorb retired agents for training younger ones.

The administration ensures the availability of quality seeds, deploys ICT, and implements strategies for effective agricultural service delivery.

Various initiatives, such as Quelea bird control, solar-powered irrigation pumps, and procurement of LNG for converted irrigation pumps, contribute to boosting agricultural productivity in the state.

Mu’azu also reported the successful engagement of 39,500 farmers in the Federal Government’s dry season production program and the launch of the Kaura Agricultural Development and Growth Agenda for further agricultural and agribusiness investments.
