Former Governor and minister of interior Rauf Aregbesola, has said that he was banned from returning to his state of Osun for the last 4 years.

The ex-minister who had served until recently under Buhari’s tenure finally returned to a grand welcoming in the state, thanking the new government for the development.

Reports previously had it that the ex-minister had fallen out with his successor and the current president, signaling a political banishment.

During the last election which saw the PDP’s Ademola Adeleke, Aregbesola had reportedly stayed away and later established closer ties with the new governor.

I appreciate and celebrate my supporters, well wishers, associates and the Friends of Rauf Aregbesola (FORA) who organised yesterday’s grand reception for me in Osogbo.

I also express my profound gratitude to the people of Osun, the State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, traditional rulers, groups and associations, among others, for their unrelenting support to me and our ideology.

For four years, we were asked not to come to the state or transverse the state. But now, we can move around in peace and tranquility.

People are allowed to greet and felicitate with us without anyone shooting at them. For this, we are greatful!

Well, in no distant time, I and other leaders of our party the APC, would traverse the length and breadth of the state to visit party members and re-echo the need for them to strengthen the political base.

We are deeply grateful to the people of Osun. They have all shown us uncommon love, backing, strength, unity of purpose, and reassurance that they are indeed with uS.

We came into Osun, and the people received us. We particularly appreciate the Governor of Osun, Ademola Adeleke, for showing Maturity. We are APC, they are PDP, yet, they have received us well. We are very grateful.

We are grateful to the people of Osun. We will not let you down. We will soon begin a statewide tour to see all of our people and to assure them that we are fully back to see to their welfare. We are fully committed to strengthening the APC.
