Senator Neda Imasuen, who represents Edo South in the Nigerian Senate, may soon leave the Labour Party (LP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This comes as APC leaders are reportedly persuading him to make the switch.
Imasuen recently said that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the LP crisis might have come too late, as the party had already suffered serious damage, causing many members to leave.
He has a good relationship with top APC figures in Edo State and has often been seen at public events with them.
It’s also worth noting that he previously worked as a senior legislative aide to Senator Matthew Uroghide, who is now in the APC.
In fact, Imasuen led the APC campaign council for the upcoming governorship election in Edo.
On Tuesday night, Hon. Eugene Utubor, a special adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo, visited Imasuen to convince him to join the governor’s efforts to develop the state.
The meeting reportedly lasted several hours and was described as productive.
Imasuen expressed gratitude for the visit and praised the governor’s achievements, saying,
“The governor has done remarkably well in such a short time. It is crucial that we come together to ensure the success of his vision for our people.”
