A man reported missing by his family has been found dead under the Katampe Bridge in Abuja after police traced his final movements to a hotel where he had allegedly lodged with a married woman.
According to Daily Trust, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, said investigators traced the deceased’s missing phone to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2, who was allegedly in a romantic relationship with him.
Police linked the pair to Good Samaritan Guest House in Gwarimpa. Sanusi said Muhammed allegedly discovered that the man was no longer breathing but left the hotel with his phone without reporting the incident.
“Rather than immediately reporting the incident to the Police, the suspect took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel,” he said.
The commissioner said two hotel workers, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, later found the body and allegedly moved it from the hotel to the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe, where they dumped it under the bridge.
“Instead of reporting the discovery to the Police, two members of the hotel management identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus subsequently removed the body from the room and transported it to Kubwa expressway by Katampe under the bridge where they dumped it by the roadside,” Sanusi said.
Police said the cause of death remains unknown, adding that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
