Breaking: Police arrest Naira Marley as he returns to Nigeria

Nigerian singer Naira Marley has been arrested by the Lagos State Police for interrogation shortly after he flew into the country.

He revealed this on his X page on Tuesday night.

He wrote:

I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.

Meanwhile, the Lagos Police have confirmed that Naira Marley is in their custody.

Lagos police command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin said,

Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,

Recall that Naira Marley’s aide and Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu aka Sam Larry was also arrested and is currently being grilled over the circumstances leading to the death of late Singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad.

Sam Larry was detained by the police on Thursday night after he honoured the police invitation, and has since been grilled by police investigators over his disagreements with the late musician.

The suspect who is currently detained at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters and was yet to hire the services of a lawyer over the incident as of Saturday, is very much likely to remain in police custody until this week Friday, a source said.
