Oba Olaniyan became the 46th Onipokia in August 2020 and ruled the Ipokia Kingdom for over five years.

Before becoming king, he lived in the United States, where he studied Criminal Justice at the University of Houston-Downtown.

He later worked across different sectors, including aviation, oil and gas, and renewable energy.

He was also active in entertainment and cultural projects.

He founded the Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Awards (AHBEA) and was later listed in the Nigerian Books of Record Hall of Fame in 2025.

His death has left the throne of Ipokia Kingdom without a ruler.

Many in the community are in shock over the news, as he was preparing for what would have been another year on the throne after celebrating his fifth coronation anniversary in 2025.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from palace authorities or the Ogun State Government on the cause of death or burial plans.
