NNPP Reacts As Key Members Defect To APC

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has criticised key members of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at his home in Kano on Friday evening, Kwankwaso addressed supporters from Takai Local Government who chose to remain with the NNPP, praising their loyalty.

He referred to the defectors’ move as a betrayal, pointing out that Senator Abdulrahman Kawu and other lawmakers from Kano had switched sides.

Although he didn’t name individuals directly, Kwankwaso said that voters had shown patience and commitment by supporting the NNPP despite offers of money and gifts, only for some elected members to abandon the party for personal gain.

He warned young people to be wary of such politicians, accusing them of prioritising self-interest over the welfare of the masses.

Kwankwaso expressed confidence that those who betrayed the party would regret their decisions and said that opposing the Kwankwasiyya movement would prove difficult.

Hashimu Dungurawa, the state NNPP chairman, also praised the supporters for staying loyal and assured them they would be treated fairly within the party.
