US Court takes action on Tinubu

A United States District Court has given US Attorney Jeanine Pirro four more days to release the drug-trafficking records of Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu.

The order was issued by US District Judge Beryl Howell, who said the case had remained before the court for more than three years.

The records in question are reportedly held by agencies under the US Department of Justice, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The development was made public by Dr Von Batten-Montague-York in a post on X.

He said the latest court decision followed a request by Pirro for more time to meet the earlier order requiring the release of the documents.

Pirro had sought an additional 10 days to comply with the directive.

However, Judge Howell approved only four extra days, meaning the new deadline for compliance is August 21, 2026.

The records are said to relate to allegations of drug trafficking involving Tinubu.

The matter has remained in court for several years, with efforts continuing over the release of documents held by US law enforcement agencies.

Von Batten-Montague-York described the latest court order as a fresh move toward making the records available. He said the long-running case should now move toward the release of the documents.

He also argued that the United States’ relationship and strategic interests with Nigeria should not be used as a reason to prevent the records from being made public.
