The ongoing industrial action by the academic staff union of universities, has hit another roadblock as the minister of Labour and the ASUU chairman nearly came to blows.
During an appearance before the House of Representatives, both sides got into another heated exchange which saw the minister of Labour and employment Chris Ngige walk out of the meeting.
The minister continued to exchange words with the ASUU chairman Emmanuel Osodeke as he walked out, briefly slapping him gently on the back.
Osodeke shrugged off the hand somewhat aggressively as the minister’s aid ushered him out to avoid escalation.
The strike has been on since February 2022 is on course to be one of the longest ever as students continue to clamor for an end.
