Activist decries Wike’s neglect of Abuja’s rising insecurity, calls for urgent intervention

Human Rights Activist Deji Adeyanju has criticized FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for allegedly neglecting the escalating insecurity in Abuja, leaving the FCT vulnerable to criminal activities.

Human Rights Activist and Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, over the increasing insecurity, kidnapping, and violence in Abuja.

In a press statement seen by Dockaysworld, Adeyanju expressed deep concern and outrage over the escalating cases of kidnappings and killings in the FCT.

Adeyanju blamed the FCT Minister for the rising insecurity, citing his carefree attitude and neglect of responsibilities as the Chief Executive Officer of the FCT.

He accused Wike of prioritizing political battles in his home state of Rivers over addressing the security challenges in Abuja.

He urged the President to ensure that necessary measures are taken to safeguard the lives and property of Abuja’s inhabitants.

The activist also called on security agencies to enhance their intelligence-gathering capabilities and intensify efforts to make the city safe.

He emphasized the need for the protection of citizens as a primary objective and urged the agencies to combat criminal elements responsible for kidnappings and killings.

Adeyanju warned that if the concerns raised are not urgently addressed, Concerned Nigerians will organize peaceful protests to demand justice and security for all citizens.

He stressed that the lives of innocent citizens are at stake, and their suffering should not go unnoticed or unaddressed.

His words: “The safety and security of citizens should be of utmost priority for any responsible government, yet the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, bears a significant responsibility for the escalating insecurity in the capital city.

“It is disheartening to witness the calm attitude displayed by the FCT Minister towards the security challenges faced by the residents of Abuja.

“Instead of taking responsibility as the Chief Executive Officer of the FCT, he was busy blaming Council Chairmen for travelling out of their Area Council just yesterday when he spent days partying and politicking in Rivers State himself.

“He has refused to actively address the pressing issues facing the FCT. He seems to be more preoccupied with politicking and engaging in power struggles in his home state of Rivers.

“This neglect of duty has left the people of Abuja vulnerable and exposed to the nefarious activities of criminals.”
