Nigerian traditional ruler dies


The Etsu Sonfada of Nupe Kingdom, Mahmud Abubakar has passed away, bringing sorrow to the Bida Emirate.

The governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, expressed sadness over the development and sent his condolences to the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, who also serves as chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers.

He described the loss as a painful one for the Nupe Kingdom and the entire state.

The governor also extended sympathy to the immediate family of the deceased as well as the Bida Emirate.

He called on the family to stay strong and continue praying for the peaceful rest of the late traditional title holder.

He further prayed for forgiveness for the late Sonfada and asked that he be granted a place in paradise.

According to him, the deceased played a role in the growth and progress of the Nupe Kingdom and contributed in different ways to the development of Niger State.

Bago noted that the efforts of the late Abubakar would not be forgotten, saying they would be remembered for a long time within the community and beyond.

He encouraged the family to continue to live in a way that reflects the values the late traditional leader upheld during his lifetime.
