Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the support of the union of PDP Support groups have given Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State an ultimatum to either resume office or hand over power to his deputy.

The National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Obande Gideon revealed this while addressing a press conference at the PDP Headquarters on Friday, saying that its members were ready to take over Ondo State if the Governor fails to comply with the warning.

Obande added that since it is no longer news that Akeredolu is sick, his difficulties should not disrupt governance because there is a provision for a deputy to discharge his duties in an acting position as stated by the law.

Obande with the support of other members of the group stated that they are giving the governor a 72hours ultimatum to resume office or hand over power to his deputy.

He, however, emphasised that if the Governor does not comply with their demand, they will be forced to occupy the Ondo state Government House.

He said:

“We hereby call on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to resume within 72hours or hand over power to his Deputy for effective management of Ondo State.

We understand that, Mr President is a season politician who ordinarily should have intervene, like wise the National Leadership of the APC but their failure to address the issue is raising more concern as Ondo State is central to National development.

We make bold to say that, if the Governor fails to resume or handover power to his Deputy within 72hours, we will have no option than to occupy Ondo State Government House to press home our demand.”
