The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has refuted claims by the Nigerian government that the visa ban on its citizens has been lifted.

According to CNN, an official of the government disclosed this as they said the year long ban was still ongoing.

They said:

“There are no changes on the Nigeria/UAE travel status so far.”

The source asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Recall, President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale broke the news on his page, the official government page and the president’s page.

The press release had stated that the ban had been lifted effective immediately with flights to and from both countries resuming.

When the UAE report on the event mentioned nothing about the alleged ban lifting, the spokesperson had rephrased his words to mean that it was an o gong process.

The comment from the UAE official now proves otherwise.

Recall the UAE said in a notice last October it will no longer issue visas to citizens from Nigeria and 19 other African nations. It did not provide further details.
