You people need men to feature me before you see my talent – Singer Simi blasts fans

Popular Nigerian singer Simisola Ogunleye aka Simi, has hit out at some fans who prefer to hear her on features than on her own songs as she says it’s because of the men who collaborate with her.

Simi shared her view while replying to a comment underneath her husband Adekunle Gold’s post announcing their forthcoming collaboration on his upcoming album.

The fan in question had said she was looking forward to the song but didn’t really care for Simi’s voice.

She wrote:

”I’m not really a huge fan of Simi’s voice on singles but I love all her features, I definitely cannot wait for this one!

Simi who admitted that the statement was not malicious, however stated that the reason the fan felt that way was because she needed a male collaborator to give her permission to acknowledge her talent as it was the same voice she used on her solo songs”.

She wrote:

”It’s literally the same voice. The same writer. The same singer. This is gonna be hard to hear, but some of you wait for men (because na dem dey feature me) to give you permission to validate my talent. I honestly say this with zero malice. I’m just used to it now and I think people should just enjoy what they enjoy rather than make it seem like I off my magic button when I’m singing my own songs. Nobody will beat you”.
