2027: Peter Obi speaks on being Atiku’s running mate


Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, has addressed growing talks about possible political alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate said it is too early to discuss any arrangement involving a running mate.

He spoke during a recent interview.

When asked directly if he would consider becoming a vice-presidential candidate to Atiku, Obi made it clear that such a conversation is not on the table at the moment.

He explained that political decisions of that nature cannot be determined now, adding that his current focus remains on contesting for the presidency.

Obi also spoke about his relationship with Atiku, describing him as a respected senior figure. He noted that statements made by experienced politicians should be seen within the context they were given, stressing that future political moves cannot be predicted with certainty.

So we can’t say what will happen about tomorrow. I can only tell you that I’m contesting the election for the office of the president,” he said.
