The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is reviewing the results of the 2026 governorship election across the state as it considers whether to challenge the outcome through the courts.
The party disclosed this on Sunday, August 16, following the declaration of the election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The result gave the incumbent governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
The APC said its leadership was examining the results from all 332 wards in Osun to identify issues that may require further action.
The review is expected to guide the party on whether to pursue a legal challenge under the provisions of the Electoral Act.
According to the party, the announcement of election results does not necessarily bring the entire electoral process to an end, as candidates and political parties who are dissatisfied with the conduct or outcome of an election have legal channels through which they can seek redress.
The party said it would consult its lawyers before taking a final decision on the matter.
It added that any further action would be based on the advice of its legal team and the legal options available under the law.
The APC also maintained that the election process includes several stages beyond voting and the declaration of results, with the tribunal and higher courts providing opportunities for parties to challenge alleged irregularities.
The party thanked its members and supporters across Osun for their participation and commitment during the election. It also called on them to remain calm as the leadership continues to assess the situation.
The APC urged its supporters to continue with their normal activities and avoid confrontations or reactions to statements and actions that could create tension between political groups.
The party further called on the Nigeria Police Force to protect its members and supporters, alleging that some of them had been subjected to harassment by supporters of rival political parties.
The APC said it remained committed to the rule of law and would follow the legal process in deciding its next move.
It assured its members that the leadership would continue to stand with them as the party considers the available options.
