IGP Disu redeploys officers nationwide
Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of 56 senior officers from the Police Monitoring Unit in Abuja to different commands across the country as part of a fresh shake-up in the force.
The decision was contained in an internal memo dated April 11, 2026, and issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja. It was signed by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Bode Akinbamilowo on behalf of the police boss.
According to the directive, the affected officers, who are from ranks such as Chief Superintendents of Police, Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents, have been moved from the Police Monitoring Unit to various formations nationwide.
Their new postings cut across several locations including the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Rivers, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, and Benue states.
The memo was addressed to top police officials, including Deputy Inspectors-General, Assistant Inspectors-General, Commissioners of Police, and heads of formations and training institutions. It instructed all concerned departments to ensure that the officers are released without delay so they can resume duties at their new stations.
