Tinubu departs Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to travel out of Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for official visits to three countries – France, Kenya, and Rwanda.
His trip will begin in France before he proceeds to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will take part in the Africa-France Summit expected to start next week.The meeting is being jointly led by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, and it will focus on areas such as energy transition, green industry, digital growth, global finance reforms, and climate issues.
President Tinubu is scheduled to attend the summit between May 11 and May 12.
His presence at the event is aimed at deepening Nigeria’s relationship with other African countries and France, while also strengthening cooperation on shared goals.
The gathering, themed around Africa’s future partnerships for innovation and growth, will bring together leaders from across Africa and France to discuss major concerns affecting the continent.
These include economic development, climate challenges, infrastructure, youth development, technology, and peace efforts.
After the summit in Kenya, the president will head to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum, which will take place from May 14 to May 15.
The forum is expected to draw business leaders, investors, and policymakers from across the continent and beyond.
The event, organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, will focus on driving economic growth through regional cooperation, expansion of businesses, and stronger cross-border investments.
More than 2,000 participants, including top executives and government officials, are expected to attend.
During both events, President Tinubu will speak on his administration’s policies and reforms aimed at improving the economy and attracting investors.
He is also expected to meet with leading business figures and officials from different countries.
The president will travel with some ministers and senior aides and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
