Adeboye speaks on sacking Remi Tinubu as RCCG pastor

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has said Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will remain an ordained pastor in the church despite calls for her removal.

He spoke during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service, where he explained that her ordination as an Assistant Pastor took place over ten years ago.

According to him, this happened long before her husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, began his journey toward becoming president.

Adeboye said the First Lady followed all the required steps before becoming a pastor and has not gone against any rule of the church.

For this reason, he stated that there is no basis to remove her and that the church will not give in to outside demands on the matter.

He also made it clear that the church does not belong to any political party.

He said members of different parties, including APC, PDP, ADC, APGA and LP, attend services, showing that the church is open to everyone regardless of political views.

However, he noted that politicians are not allowed to use the church altar to promote campaigns.

Speaking about the future of the country, Adeboye said the person who will lead Nigeria in the next presidential election has already been chosen by God.

He also addressed concerns about insecurity affecting Christians in northern parts of the country.

He explained that the church has been offering support through camps for displaced persons and other welfare efforts. He added that claims that the church has stayed silent on the issue are not correct.
